Where to find a track?

Looking for a track to go racing at?

Townsville

The Townsville Cycling Club owns and operates the velodrome located on Bowen Rd in Fairfield Waters.

This track is a top quality concrete velodrome of 333m.

Training is conducted on Tues nights from 1900hr and racing on Friday nights from 1900hr.

Check the Townsville cycling club website for further details.

Lavarack Barracks is only 4km if that from this facility.

Newcastle

The Hunter Region Velodrome Trust operates the velodrome located in Broadmeadow just opposite the Newcastle Jockey Club.

The track is a bit rough these days but is concrete and 200m.

Training is conducted Tuesdays from 1800hr and racing on Wednesdays from 1800hr.

Check the Hunter Districts cycling club website for further details.

Also in Newcastle is the Townsend Oval velodrome. This is a 400m flat track, and is smooth and quick. There is no organised racing or training here, but it's a useful location to have for some variation in your training. It's located off Lingard St, Merewether.

 Newcastle Track Racing and Training.

Tuesday nights starting 1800 at Newcastle Velodrome in Adamstown, just behind Broadmeadow Horse racing track.

Wednesday night Track Racing. Same place.

Saturday Mornings from about 0900 More Track training.

Leading up to major events.
There maybe a road trip to Dunc Grey Velodrome in Bankstown to do some training on the boards. The trip takes around 2.5 hrs each way and costs $10.00 to train on a world class velodrome all day.

During Winter There is FNWTR (Friday Night Winter Track Racing) - this is at Dunc Grey Velodrome and Starts at 1900 hrs. A few of us go down there occasionally. You normally get back in to Newcastle at around 0030 - 0100 Saturday morning.

Wagga

The Wagga Wagga Cycling club velodrome is located on the corner of Kincaid street.

In season track racing is conducted on Wednesday nights from 1800hr.

Although the track isn't a classic steep banked velo, the racing is still quality with a number of talented local Riverina riders.

ADCC members from Kapooka - Army recruit training centre and RAAF Wagga Wagga race here.
